World War II was a global conflict, which saw 6 years of brutal combat from 1939 to 1945. Towards the end of the war, an American B-29 bomber jet by the name of “Enola Gay” was sent to drop a 10 foot bomb with never-before-seen devastating power on Hiroshima, and another was sent shortly after to Nagasaki. The effects of the bombings were catastrophic, killing a total of close to 200,000+ people. The Japanese surrendered shortly after the bombing of Nagasaki, thus ending the Second World War. Much debate surrounds the actions of the United States to bring World War II to a conclusion. The question itself sparks rage, as many believe the bombings were unethical and not justified.
